some 07 photos

Photos...

I have finally downloaded over a thousand pictures from the memory cards in our camera. It took a while, but now it's done. It's been a lot of fun to look over them. Some of them I totally forgot about. I'm working on figuring out how to edit them and maybe turn them into a movie and add some music to them. I love taking pictures, I've just never been very good at getting them developed. I know it's the thing to just send your photos somewhere to have them developed and not use your own printer due to the expense of ink, but that would cost me a pretty penny to do that. So I'm just going to have to come up with a better way to enjoy photos of my little boy.

I remember my first real camera. It was a graduation present from my parents. It was such a cool camera! It could take panoramic shots, portrait shots, and so many other features that I never really learned to use them all. I loved being my own photographer, but I have never liked having my picture taken. To me, I am the total opposite of photogenic. Usually I end up looking like a white blob with blue eyes and totally unruly hair that looks to not have been taken care of for weeks. Oh well. At least my family loves me whether I'm a model or just me.

It's up!!!

Although my husband wasn't able to put up his deck this last weekend he was kind enough to put up our big HDTV! I was so excited!! It seems so huge, yet it has opened up our front room so it doesn't have that crowded feel anymore. We have also bought a new surround sound system that has a 5-disc DVD changer, FM/AM tuner and lots of other cool options. The DVD player came with a HDMI cable that enables regular DVD to have an almost high-def look so it's awesome! I can't wait to watch all the cool movies that we have in wide-screen and take advantage of that. My housework might suffer, but I'm sure my husband will understand. Wouldn't he?

Wahoo!!!!

So last night Joel took me out to buy my birthday present. We now have a 47' 1080P HDTV!!! WAHOOO!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!! I have been bugging him for a few months now saying that we needed one and he has finally bought one! I can't wait for him to have time to hook it up, but he said first he says he needs to build a deck. So my guess the way it's taking so long for him to build the deck I might have the TV out of the box and installed just in time for Christmas. The reason for the wait is that he starts school this Thursday and will be taking three classes. So he's going to be busy for awhile and not have much time to get projects done. We originally were hoping to have the deck done already, but oh well, what can we do. So if anybody has any free time this Saturday the 23, please give Joel a call and let him know.

Washington

We have returned from our trip to the Tri-cities area in Washington State. It was a quick trip, but I was definitely wishing it could have been longer. We drove up with Joel's mother and sister in a Honda Accord. There were leather seats, a sun-roof and no tint. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed having the windows in our car tinted until I ended up stuck in a car with no tint and leather seats. Some people have a misconstrued idea that to have leather seats in a car is a sign of luxury. I beg to differ. For me, leather seats always stick to you and seem to hold on to heat from your body in a most uncomfortable manner. I used to not like leather seats. Now I can say that I hate leather seats and will never never never buy a car with leather seats. My poor husband had to ask me to pull his shirt away from his skin as his clothes were sticking to his body from the leather. I am thankful that AJ enjoyed his time in the car otherwise it would have been even more miserable.
For AJ we had bought him a couple of the Mini-cars Adventures which are small model cars based on Disney Pixars "Cars" movie, which is his all time favorite film. He had fun making car engine noises and just hanging out. We were also able to keep him pretty dry in his pull-ups so the potty training was working really well. It shouldn't be too much longer and he'll be trained.

The main reason for the short trip was that our nephew Taylor had been taking the discussions from the missionaries and decided to be baptized. It was awesome to be there to show our support. It was also fun to see other family that we don't get to spend a lot of time with. Joel's parents are in the process of selling their house and moving up to the Tri-cities area, so we'll be making that kind of a common trek between Utah and Washington. Plus it'll give me an excuse to also go to Seattle, which is just a couple hours drive from the Tri-cities area. Plus Portland, Oregon is about two hours from there. So any excuse that I can to go visit those areas is a bonus.

For the drive home we took the van which has tinted windows and a built in DVD player. During the time in Washington, AJ was so amped up and just running all over that putting him back in the van for the trip home was a little harder , but as long as we had one of his kid friendly movies running we were good. The van was much more comfortable to ride back in as we had room to stretch out and we had cloth seats. We got home at about 10:30 last night and had a very tired kid.

Last night...

Last night someone decided that our house needed some improvements so they toilet papered our yard. It was woven through our trees and bushes. Joel doesn't think they did a very good job. His comment "When I toilet papered I had someone in the backyard and we would throw it over the roof. We didn't use the two-ply like they did we used the cheap stuff it was harder to get out. Whoever did this wasn't very good at it. " Yeah, he said that. I was just surprised that someone would TP our house. I think they may have gotten caught by someone as there was an unused roll laying on the sidewalk. I'm glad these people were incompetent at their task. I would not have enjoyed spending most of my day cleaning up their job. We were up late last night watching the Opening Ceremonies for the Summer Olympics. So I guess it must have been sometime after we went to bed which was just past midnight. I am also thankful they didn't think to do anything else like egging the house, putting flour in the yard, or breaking plastic forks in the yard. Thank goodness for small favors or incompetent TPers.

SYTYCD Finale and more...

Tonight and tomrrow is the SYTYCD Finale. I was disappointed that Chelsie Hightower did not make it to the final four. I thought she has always been a strong performer and could do whatever was thrown at her. Guess everyone just assumed she was safe. Oh well. I'm glad that Twitch, Joshua and Katee have all made it to the finale. I just wasn't thrilled that Courtney G made it all the way. Not that I don't like her, I just liked Chelsie better.

I have already finished reading "Breaking Dawn" the fourth book in the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer. It was kind of sluggish at the beginning. I didn't really feel like that story got going until I got to Book Two. Now that I have filled that need I can move on to reading her other book "The Host." It is so nice to be able to read lots of books. I have always been a big book fan. I remember being younger and going to the library with my family. I always checked out lots of books and constantly had my nose in a book to the point my mom would worry I would never go outside to play.

I am looking forward to the summer Olympics that start in a couple of days. I love the opening and closing ceremonies. They are so awesome. The only downer is the TV commentaters who can't seem to shut-up during them. To me it feels like they are down talking to the viewing public thinking they have to explain what is going on where if they would just stop the ceremonies explain everything themselves. No commentary needed. Just let us enjoy the show!
